#8 Allows you to enjoy EVERY moment of your special day!

When I got married, 10+ years ago, my biggest regret was not hiring someone to coordinate my wedding and reception.  As a recent graduate at that time with a Hotel and Restaurant Management degree, with am emphasis in event planning ,  I thought I can do this!  I am not going to PAY someone else to come in an do what I can plan, what I studied 4 years to do!  This is going to be my job!

Biggest. Mistake. Ever.

Don't get me wrong! I have nothing but beautiful memories of my wedding day.  It was EVERYTHING a girl can dream about, and thanks to my mom, dad, many other family members and friends we pulled it off.  However, I would have loved to have someone that could have handled the "grunt" work of the day, so that my parents and family could enjoy every moment with me. Instead, my parents were delayed in getting to the reception, as they needed to gather the florals from the church and make sure it was picked up and cleaned per the church rules.  The day after the event, they spent most of Sunday breaking down the space, hauling gifts and more.  They did the "grunt" work. (I had an outdoor tented reception, so there was a lot of breakdown & "grunt" work)

When clients come to meet with me for an initial consultation.  We sit down, usually meet a coffee house, or Panera etc.  We introduce ourselves, and then get into some questions.  One of my initial questions to the potential client is "why are you interested in hiring a wedding planner?"  I usually get a range of answers from "I am not very organized," to "I want to save money, and understand you can help us with that," and so on!  Usually, I have atleast one person in the group who is hesitant on why they should hire a wedding planner.  So, I sit back and talk about my wedding day, and how my sweet parents did all of the grunt work!

I like to explain, that though I will spend lots of time putting together documents, and timelines, making vendor calls, dealing with last minute issues etc, that more than anything you have me to do all of the "grunt" work! It is not that I do stuff that you can't do, its that I do that stuff that you don't WANT to have to do on your special day, or that you want your parents to have to do. Spend your special day having brunch with your mom and bridesmaids while I am at the reception site making sure everything is going as planned.  Allow your parents to spend the reception enjoying the event, and walk out that night without worrying about loading up the gifts, collecting the glassware for the florist etc.  Let us take care of that!  We will do the grunt work for you as we want you and your family members to enjoy EVERY moment of your special day!
